“Prayer is not the place to be perfect, but the place to be honest“
In all honesty, I want every post I make on this blog to reach many. That is also part of any writer’s motivation. So, it is important to me to be genuine with the Lord about this, to begin with. And like Dr. Coe would say, “Prayer is not the place to be good, but the place to be honest.” In that sense, saying, “Lord, I am honest with You … ” is usually my prayer’s opening sentence for any endeavor.
Besides that, this cannot be, however, my central concern either. Beyond having success in life, the question that someone should ask is: what’s next? For instance, what would happen if one had studied just for the midterm and would have forgotten about all the valuable lessons, lectures, articles, and assignments afterward? Certainly, this would have contributed to a new understanding and helped him/her experience growth in their endeavor. However, this is not enough. I believe that the answer to the previous question is found in showing a good attitude. But Lord, how do You see me through this? Am I living or having a good attitude? If yes or no, then how? I have a sense that the Lord’s answer is, “So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31 NIV). So, whether this blog reaches a dozen, a thousand, or a million, I write for God’s Glory.
Therefore, given that I am doing this for God’s Glory, it becomes clear that my intention to bring glory to God is somehow perceptible through the time I spent crafting the content and knowing the Lord’s intent. And even though there are some constraints, such as life obligations, knowing that I write this blog ultimately for His Glory alone eases me from any false burden. Because to write for God’s Glory is neither an excuse for performing shabby work nor a place intended for personal ambition to impress.
Let this be my honest prayer to You, Lord Jesus. Amen
